Kaamos Timber

The Kaamos Group’s biggest investments in the timber industry are made by Kaamos Timber. The company was founded in 2003 and produces sawn timber in Belarus, which it then sells to almost 100 clients all over the world. It has two production units: an operational mill (Vitebskaya Lesopilka) and a second mill that it currently under construction (Mozerski Lesozavod). The company is 100% Estonian-owned and specialises in the production of sawn timber from conifers. Kaamos Timber currently employs 250 people and is one of the biggest producers of sawn timber from conifers on the Belarusian market. As much as 95% of its output is exported, mainly to Germany, the Netherlands, Belgium, Poland, Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia.

VITEBSKI MILL

The Vitebskaya Lesopilka mill produces sawn timber from conifers (pine and spruce). Its range of products runs to more than 150 different profiles of sawn timber. After the drying process, the moisture content of the timber is up to 8%. As a by-product, the mill also produces more than 300,000 m3 of wood chips and 150,000 m3 of sawdust, the latter of which is exported for use by pellet producers. Almost 200,000 m3 of sawn timber was produced at the mill in 2019 – the largest amount in all its years of operation. Steps are constantly taken at the mill to boost efficiency and productivity. A total of 3.4 million euros was invested in modernising production in 2019. The company regularly improves the mill’s facilities, focussing on the further automation and updating of its production lines with the aim of continuing to grow production volumes. www.vitebsk-lesopilka.com

MOZYR MILL

In 2019, Kaamos Timber launched construction of a new mill in the Belarusian city of Mazyr. Production of sawn timber from conifers will start in the second half of 2022. The production volume planned for the new mill is 250,000 m3. The company plans to operate a cutting-edge sawing and sorting line with enhanced drying power at the mill. This will expand the range of sawn timber offered by the mill and generate around 100 new jobs. A total of 25 million euros is planned to be invested in the new mill, whose construction is being co-financed by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD).
